September Farillio Small Business Newsletter

Monday 26 Sep 22

Hi,

Welcome to September’s newsletter, covering all the latest from Farillio:

  • New Features: our new-look resource category landing pages have been rolling out this month, Phase 2 of our new HR management tool launches and we’ve added a new tools section to your top navigation bar, making it even easier for you to find content and to ensure you don’t miss anything relevant!

  • Updated content: Several updates to draw to your attention this month, related to the release of the mini-budget by the Government on Friday 23 September.

  • New content: This month, you’ll find more new resources in your Farillio account, covering:

    • Marketing support: A brand new, significantly upgraded marketing suite including video demos, master templates for creating plans, succeeding at email marketing and conducting effective marketing on a shoestring budget. Expert Lou Nylander dispenses heaps of pragmatic, well-proven advice.

    • ESG simplified: New, easy-to-use and remarkably straightforward, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) tools - ensuring every small business is equipped to excel at this increasingly key area of business competence and competitiveness.

    • Financial compliance covered: our new Anti-money laundering policy document and its accompanying reporting and recording templates are now live.

    • Selling online and multi-factor authentication (MFA): flashback to earlier this summer when we published a number of videos on this topic with Ankura’s Ryan Rubin, our cyber and data security expert. MFA helps protection your business from email compromise attacks online and it’s becoming an expected feature of everyday customer relations, as far as most consumers are concerned.

  • Community Spotlight: September’s spotlight falls on experienced HR expert, Chris Taylor, from Accelerate HR. Chris is also the founder of one of the UK’s most successful HR podcasts: Ovenready HR. He uses Farillio in his own business.

  • Expert corner: This month’s Farillio business expert is marketing expert Lou Nylander. In collaboration with Lou and friends, we’ve released a huge suite of ‘how-to-do-marketing’ successfully, even when you’re on a shoestring budget.

  • In the News: This month, we’ve listed our top picks for essential small business news. It’s been a busy month for news and alerts. Your September edition covers:

    • Goodbye EU regulations – with its new Brexit Freedoms Bill, the government plans to break away from all remaining EU regulations governing the UK by 31 December 2023.

    • Surges in scams being blamed on Facebook and Instagram – if you’re advertising your business or relying on these media channels to build profile or make sales, make sure you’re doing all you can to reassure your customers that you’re legitimate and that you do protect their data and interests.

    • How to avoid your customers abandoning their baskets at checkout: This summer, Startups.co.uk has been helpfully finding out… and they’ve got some great tips.

    • Pavement licences are being updated: We have updates for hospitality and retail businesses on pavement licences and how to renew them to take advantage of the Government’s extension to the fast-track pavement licences scheme, first introduced during the pandemic

    • To TikTok or not: We look at the latest views on the highly topical question of whether small businesses should sell their products or services via TikTok. There are some very interesting debates playing out in the press on this topic. What do you think?

While we can connect you with some very fine advisers in the UK, and we collaborate with them to provide you with great materials, Farillio itself is not a law firm. We do not directly provide legal advice ourselves. All resources are available for you to use (according to our terms and conditions), but those resources are not legal advice to you and neither are they a substitute for you taking legal advice from a lawyer.
